The Slippery Slope A Series of Unfortunate Events Book 10 Lemony Snicket Brett Helquist Michael Kupperman 9780064410137 Books

The story so far. . . After the horrors of the Caligari Carnival, he Baudelaire orphans have been split up by the awful Count Olaf, with the eldest left to plummet to thier death in a speeding caravan off the side of the Mortmain Mountains and the youngest kidnapped to be his ticket to the Baudelaire fortune and. . . Lemony Snicket has done it again!

While Sunny is forced to cook for the criminals and sleep in a casserole dish, Violet and Klaus have found a true friend, a few more answers about V.F.D. and maybe a way to rescue Sunny and get out of Olaf's clutches for good.

Of course, this being a Lemony Snicket novel, nothing turns out quite as good as expected and there are quite a few "unfortunate events", all of which guarantee a book full of read-out loud, and laugh-out loud, dark humor. I hate for the Baudelaires to be suffering so dreadfully, but I can't help but take great delight in thier sufferings, thanks to Snicket's wickedly witty style.

The Slippery Slope A Series of Unfortunate Events Book 10 Lemony Snicket Brett Helquist Michael Kupperman 9780064410137 Books Reviews

My daughter and I like to take books with us when we go down the river. This was a great little series about 3 little kids who seem to have nothing but bad luck. They are great for all ages and fun to read as a family. Each one tells of a different adventure so you don't have to read them in order, but I recommend buying the entire set. They are full of adventure, suspense, and humor. Get them all!!!
(Written by my daughter)

When I first heard the book, I thought that it was boring and sad. But when I read the first book I fell in love. I just kept reading and reading, and this review is coming from a 10 year old girl so you know that both kids and adults would love this series.
I would recommend it to mystery loving people because all the codes and not all are obvious a good. Book
Great read for people who love this genre. The style can be slightly annoying and redundant...but it’s part of what makes this series unique
The absolute best part of this book is the evolution of Sunny from a rope-chewing baby into a gourmet cook whose deft one-word insults not only land undetected by villains but also on certain politicians in real life. Check out page 107 for the definition of "busheney"! I would love to make a list of the great words coined by Sunny in this book; it makes all the other characters seem dull.Count Olaf doesn't wear any disguises. Violet's inventions are predictable. Most of the brainpower is supplied by Quigley Quagmire, not Klaus.
And I heartily applaud the return of Carmelita from the "Austere Academy". She will have some great scenes in the next installment now that she has joined Esme and Count Olaf. Cakesniffers!!
Definitely not a series for the light-hearted but it's entertaining and my wife is working her way through these books. There's also a Netflix show being made on this series but you know what they say about the books always being better but we'll leave it at that. ;)
I have these books but purchased them on my as well because I cannot get usd to reading an actual book anymore. You have to hold it open, it doesn't light up,,,

Anyway I love these books.
After a lull with the previous few books, Lemony Snicket is back to his finest with this tenth installment! It is exciting to see the Baudelaire girls maturing and experience firsts. Helquist's illustrations do a fine job of showing our three favorite orphans taller and stronger as they face frightening frenemies and fiascoes. I'm one of the many adults who enjoy this Series of Unfortunate Events and, even with a busy schedule, I squeezed in an hour here and there as much as I possibly could -- because I was captivated by the intrigue occurring on the Slippery Slope. I highly recommend the entire Series and especially this hilarious Book the Tenth. Lemony can always make me smile, and there's nobody like him on the contemporary literary scene; nobody pushing the bounds of literary nonsense within contemporary society. Thanks + huzzah!
